We explore the Bible with curiosity, context, and a willingness to question everything we were taught in Sunday school. From hell and inerrancy to gender roles and Paul’s confusing rants, we dig into the messy, beautiful, human story behind the sacred text—and try to hold onto Jesus through it all.<h3 style="">How did we get here?</h3>Nate was a Christian radio producer in Los Angeles—working in talk, teaching, and Christian music at The Fish. He later helped start a church with Francis Chan. But a few years in, everything changed when he began to wrestle with the doctrine of hell. That unraveling sent him on a journey that turned into this podcast.Shelby was training to be a Bible translator. Her goal was to bring Scripture to unreached people groups—until she realized she didn’t want to carry over the patriarchy so often baked into Western Christianity’s reading of the Bible. Instead, she turned her academic background into a mission to rethink the Bible’s context, history, and interpretation—with more honesty and less dogma.<h3 style="">Are we heretics?</h3>If loving Jesus but not buying the whole package makes you “almost heretical,” then yeah—maybe we are. But really, we think this is what faith should look like: asking questions, challenging assumptions, and choosing wisdom over tribalism.
